Chris’s day job as an accounts payable clerk was keeping her sitting most of the day, so when her daughter Amy wanted to take a tap dance class, Chris thought that dancing would be a good form of exercise. While looking through the paper she came across an ad for clogging classes. Before she could call, she met Jo Sarnelli in AC Moore’s and remembered that Jo had taught clogging. Chris mentioned the ad she had seen for clogging class. These classes were Jo’s, and she invited Amy and Chris to attend a class to see if they would like to give it a try.
Chris had never taken any type of dance lessons. Tole painting and quilting are her outside interests. So being able to master the clogging routines gave her enough incentive to try the other dance styles that Jo was bringing into class.
Chris also enjoys what this eclectic group brings into her life. The wide variety of ages and ideas make for wonderful friendships and keep the classes interesting. Along with a few others, she uses her sewing skills to make some of the new costumes for herself and the other troupe members. It is fun to be able to dress up and be someone else while you are performing.
What keeps her coming back? The exercise, the friendship, and - most of all - the Dance!
